This content is photographs of imported locomotives in Japana, from UK, USA, Germany and so on.

In early days, many Japanese Railway company has received guidance from foreign countries. For example, Honshu island Railways were received guidance from UK railway engineers, Hokkaido siland Railways were from USA engineers, Kyushu island Railways were from German engineerrs. For the reasons mentioned above, the Japanese Railway company owns many foreign locomotives.

Dübs

2120 of Japanese National Railway

Class 2100, class 2120, class 2400, and class 2500 steam locomotives of Japanese National Railway were manufactured by many foreign builders between 1890 and 1905. Total 500 of them were manufacturede for heavy freight trains accompanying the Russo-Japanese War. They have 0-6-2 wheel arrangement, their nickname were "B6".



  • Class 2100 were manufactured by Dübs, total 12 of them were manufactured 1890 and 1891.
  • Class 2120 were manufactured by Dübs, Sharp Stewart and North British, about 270 of them were manufactured between 1898 and 1905.
  • Class 2400 were manufactured by Hanomag, Henschel and Schwarzkopf, about 75 of them were manufactured between 1904 and 1905.
  • Class 2500 were manufactured by Baldwin, about 170 of them were manufactured between 1904 and 1905.

Class 5500 of Japanese National Railway.

Class 5500 of JNR were manufactured between 1893 and 1898 for express service. Total 72 of them were manufactured by Beyer Peacock. They have 4-4-0 wheel arrangement, their wheel diameter is 4'6"(1372mm). They are very similar to Tobu's class B1 locomotives. Class B1 and class 5500 were both manufactured by Beyer Peacock.
